EC ANNUALS

These are full color reprints of the EC Comics, with four to six complete comics in each Annual. They are comic-book size, smaller than the EC Library. Try just one or two of these EC Annuals, and you'll be hooked. The TV series produced by HBO was based on these stories. But the comic books were, in my humble opinion, better than their TV adaptations.

As Bill Gaines continued to test the market by introducing new genres of comic books, he published the first two Tales from the Crypt stories in the last two issues of Crime Patrol. Then he changed the title of Crime Patrol to The Crypt of Terror with issue #17. After three issues, he again changed the title to Tales from the Crypt. So collectors who want to collect ALL of the Crypt-Keeper stories will want to have the last two issues of Crime Patrol (available in Crime Patrol Annual 2) and all 30 issues of The Crypt of Terror/Tales from the Crypt. (available as the annuals shown below).

Just as he had done with the Crypt-Keeper stories, Gaines published the first two Vault-Keeper stories in the last two issues of War Against Crime, and after getting good feedback (good sales) from these horror stories, he changed the title of War Against Crime to The Vault of Horror with issue #12. The first two Vault-Keeper stories can be found in War Against Crime Annual 2, and all 29 issues of The Vault of Horror are available in the annuals shown below.
